Ian was the second owner of this magnificent car, which he bought in May 1968 as a gift for his wife Judy. Later that year he met Ross Bond, a long-time Healey driver who had dominated the Marque Sports Car class at NSW circuits for some time – a meeting that no doubt prompted Ian to race the 'black & white car' as it came to be known. So Judy drove it around town during the week, and Ian borrowed it and drove it somewhat harder on the weekends! Although not as competitive as the dedicated racetrack cars, it was a fine example of a sports car that could be driven to work across the Sydney Harbour Bridge on Mondays, and under Dunlop Bridge at Warwick Farm on Sundays!
