Beechey won the Australian Touring Car Championship (ATCC) in 1965 with this car, flying the blue Neptune Team colours, and its arrival on the circuits heralded one of the most exciting chapters in the history of the sport – the Mustang era! (Although this was the first Mustang to race in Australia, there is some doubt to the claim that it was the first Mustang in the world to win a race or Championship title).
